Academy for Precision Learning

February 2012

Winter Greetings

Dear APL Community,

On behalf of all of us here at APL, we wanted to thank you for making our 5th annual auction such a success.  The auction is our central fundraising event of the year and your generosity was truly amazing.  It was so special to see our whole community come together for such a fun and dynamic evening.  We were also delighted to be able to honor Jimmy Nixon of Broadway Bound – he is a wonderful partner to APL.
As you know, we are dedicated to the idea of true inclusive education – where typically developing students and those across the autism spectrum can successfully work and learn together.  This month, we are fortunate to have an article by one of our Advisory Board members, Dr. Cassie Martin, that discusses the importance of this educational approach.  This is a great read that puts a broader context around what we are trying to achieve here at APL.
Your continued support is critical to helping us realize our goals and dreams for the school.  Again we wanted to offer a heartfelt thanks for joining us on this journey.

Note From Advisory Board Member Dr. Cassie Martin: The Importance of Inclusive Education

The Academy for Precision Learning is committed to supporting students of all abilities to be successful and active members of their community.  We believe that the practice of inclusive education is critical to promoting optimal learning, development, and self-esteem of all learners; research clearly shows that inclusive educational practices benefit not only children with disabilities, but also has positive outcomes for their typically-developing peers.
